I hate it when people smoke. Especially when they try to defend their act by using the “it’s my body/health, so I can do what I want to it.” excuse- because while that’s true (however stupid it may be), it’s horribly selfish. ’cause just because you don’t give a crap about your own health, doesn’t mean that everyone around you, everyone that talks to you, everyone that uses the freaking public girls’ toilets at school, wants to kill their lungs and smell like shit the way you do.
It’s not your “right” to do what you want to yourself, if that something affects the right of everyone else to live they way they want; which may be to live healthily and without stress on their lungs. In fact, it’s almost the same as doing burnouts on the street, losing control & crashing your car into a bunch of pedestrians. They did nothing to deserve the pain (or even death), and they probably didn’t want to die or become injured. But, y’know, burnouts are “fun”, so why not risk a few lives for a good time?
A little debate on facebook brought this up, and I guess it’s pretty obvious where I stand- stupidity/selfishness never looked “cool” to me; life is sacred. I mean, I get that it’s hard to quit for some people, especially older people that didn’t know of the risks back in the day; and as long as these people are, at the very least, trying to quit, I guess they’re not as bad. But this rant is more aimed at people that are still defending their habit with rubbish excuses; the people that know it’s bad but don’t try to care. Those teenagers that get that adreneline rush because they’re breaking the rules. The ones that just think it looks cool. You’re just another follower.
My name is Meg, some call me Gem, others Megan. I'm an eighteen year old girl from Australia who has a domain addiction and is about to enter the world of University where I hope to not get pummeled by Comm/Law. I have an amazing boyfriend named Bryan who likes to make up words and stuff with me.
