Queensland 2014

So this is an incredibly belated post, but Bryan and I went to the Gold Coast about 2 weeks ago!  It was such a yolo kind of trip, because the tickets were cheap and we got really nice accommodation on “early bird special” so yeah.  We went to the airport at like 4am, for our 6am flight to QLD.  By the time we arrived it was like 8am Melbourne, or 7am QLD, but then the shuttle bus took about an hour to get to the hotel so we checked in at about 8am.

The room wasn’t ready yet, so we had to leave our bags with reception and head off to Movie World, since we booked the shuttle bus to take us there anyway.  Both Bryan and I have been to Movie World/Wet n Wild/Sea World before, so we had a pretty good idea of the rides and stuff.  Of course we went on the Superman Escape, tried out the Green Lantern which was pretty lame, Scooby-doo, etc.  Luckily for us the lines weren’t even that long!  We got to skip the queue like 3 times because we’re only a pair, instead of a big group heheh.

Nachos for lunch.

20140224-234305.jpgBryan carrying my handbag at the “Chamber of Commerce” LOL, I forced him to take this picture, can you tell?

Oh my gosh guys, I highly DON’T recommend booking a shuttle bus for your travels- they’re great for airport transfer/pick up but they are so limiting in terms of themepark pick up.  Firstly, the bus only comes at limited times per day (the earliest pick up time was like 4pm… so late wtf).

The worst part was that the bus was late. When it FINALLY came, there was a lot of confusion. The lady driver was nice but she was so confused and disorganised… she tried to be kind by giving people lifts to their hotels even though their booking was unlisted, but she had no route planned out and people kept getting off at the wrong places so it look literally 2 hours to get home.  Bryan and I were just quiet…. people on the bus were being pretty rude to her after a while, just adding to her confusion- she was clearly very flustered.  They all illegally got off at Surfers Paradise when the bus was at the traffic lights… Idk we felt really sorry for her… but also annoyed because our time was wasted LOL

The roads in QLD are tiny, and there are so many bends.  There was also a lot of construction going on for the light rail network, so she kept driving into ridiculously tight spaces, having to reverse (and nearly like ran over some pedestrians WTF) and then, at one of the hotels, the bus like…scraped against the curb. -.-‘

We finally got back to the hotel, and I was so impressed with it!  LOL i didn’t include pictures though because they really don’t do it justice.  Oops, my bad.  Should have taken more photos :P  But here’s the foyer:

20140224-234418.jpg

The hotel was really nice- everything was new, it had a sauna, steam room, spa, swimming pool and gym.  Our room had it’s own kitchen with everything we needed (but we only really ate out so we didn’t use it much LOL) and the TV had Foxtel!  I really like this hotel, probably the best I’ve ever been at especially for the price, but then I hardly stay at hotels anyway.  We had dinner at some place in Surfers’ Paradise, and had Ben & Jerry’s for dessert.  I’m obsessed with the Clusterfluff flavour… well pretty much any peanut butter flavour LOL.  Bryan hadn’t had Ben & Jerry’s before, but he really liked the Cookie Dough one

The next day we decided that after that scarring bus experience, Bryan and I couldn’t be bothered with theme parks any more.  Actually I only really wanted to go to Movie World anyway, because last time I went to QLD I desperately wanted more time at the beach.  So that’s what we did!  But first, we decided to have lunch at this place called Longboard near our hotel.  Apparently they have the best burgers around and are famous for this one MASSIVE burger called the Phat Bastard.

20140224-234331.jpg

We decided to share the burger since it sounded so goooood.  Omg.  I don’t know how people can eat it under 30mins, the both of us could barely even get through half of it.  You can’t really tell from these photos tbh because the chips are chunky too LMFAO (why aren’t I good at taking photos sjfkfhds) but anyway in the pic below, you can see Bryan’s hand in the corner, and the glasses of drink in the background.  It’s a ridiculously huge- 1.8kg burger.  The patty alone was 800g.

20140224-234315.jpg

This is a photo after we had eaten AS MUCH as we could, and the burger is still almost as big as his head LOL

20140224-234339.jpg

So tasty but so muchhhhh.  Anyway, after that we went to Surfers Paradise!  The weather wasn’t that great, so we went to this huge arcade inside Surfer’s, where we spent quite a lot of time.  Bryan booked a surprise Teppanyaki dinner for me, since it was our 3 year anniversary :D  It was really nice and the chef made some smiley faces on the hot plate haha.

It’s kind of a blur now in terms of which days we did what.  I think on the last day we walked by this sand sculpture event they had going on.  There was a tent with sand sculpting tools so we decided to make something: it was supposed to be a donkey, but ended up being a wombat LOL.

20140224-234401.jpg

After lunch at some pub thingy, we went to the beach of course, jumped around in the waves and had fun there.  We were half looking out for Running Man but not really.  The good thing about our hotel was that it was only a few metres down from the beach, so after the beach we went to the spa and steam room!  I like steam rooms much more than saunas, I hate the feeling of a sauna drying out my face.

Finally for dinner we went to Hogs Breath Cafe, which I hadn’t been to before.  It was so yummy!!!  I got the special, which had like.. steak, pork ribs and chicken!  LOL.  So good.  And we shared a strawberry daiquiri mocktail. Afterwards we took a walk down Surfer’s Night Markets which was nice.  There were a lot of interesting little stalls set up and we got couple bracelets hahah.

Annnd then we went home the next day :c  I want to go back, it was definitely one of the most relaxing holidays I have been on

Life, work & dates

Posted on 12-02-2014

Hi guys! I’m so sorry I haven’t blogged in ages and ages. To be honest I’ve been caught up in other things… work, clubs, friends, the bf… hahaha. I feel so bad since I finally reached 500 subbies Need to edit the video on my SD card asap omg.

Well a number of things has happened recently. I went to Venus Bay with Bryan and his family, then to a bunch of Chinese New Year gatherings with both my fam and his, which was pretty hectic. Then I’ve had meetings with various firms for CCA, and some meetings for KIMBAP, the Korean Cultural Club that I am part of as general committee, but mostly I am just an advisor and graphics designer. I made a lot of cute logos and posters for them, it’s really fun since it’s quite cartoony hehe.

Also I’ve been working… not just at my new job, although thats a thing on its own, but also making websites for small businesses for my friends I also made myself a portfolio but I don’t think I’ll link it here, just to keep personal/business separate. I’ll probs have to charge everyone else who wants a website from now on cause so much stresssu o__o I’m really enjoying it right now though. I like not having uni worries at all, and doing things on my own at my pace.

Let me see… well besides all that, last week I met up with my good friend Simone for bowling and a catch up which was amazing since I haven’t seen her in a billion yrs and I luv her hahaha. But soon after I got really sick.. like I had half a box of tissues in my handbag, used that WHOLE thing up and then used another entire tissue box up. It was really frustrating, I had a meeting with a firm the next day but there was no way I could go with a red nose and fever, and dat tissue consumption.

Over the weekend I got better, then the other day I had to go to Harbourtown with Bryan because date+buying friend present for her 21st. There was a pile of dandelions in the middle of the place… which is weird because it’s pretty much a concrete jungle. (didnt edit because cbs)

20140212-233935.jpg

Then today I had work, but it’s really far away so I’m pretty tired afterwards.  But no rest!  Because I won tickets to see the “preview screening” of Endless Love.  So random, I was just looking for something to do for Valentines day, then saw the contest and figured I should enter.  Then I won yay!!

I was expecting the cinema to be kinda bad… because usually they’re pretty small, but definitely not this time hehe.  They gave us a huge cinema with red curtains and leather seats, and complimentary gold, heart-shaped chocolates!

20140212-233947.jpg

The movie was pretty good, though the story line was ridiculous.  But what do you expect of romantic movies tbh.  The point is their love > everything.  And the drama/feels were stronk.  We bought the Valentines day deal, which had a big bucket of popcorn, two giant drinks, and a box of malteasers yay.

Most unhealthy day for sure.  This is probs why I get sick 24/7.

Afterwards we decided to have dinner at TGI Fridays.  Everyone tells us it’s overpriced and not that great.  But we really enjoyed it!  I think you have to go a little bit all-out though, I’m sure their normal burgers are pretty typical.  But the quesidillas and Bryan’s Jack Daniels Burger was great!

20140212-233955.jpg

20140212-234000.jpg

Service was really good too… we tipped more than we can afford LOL.  Oh well.  On Friday we’re going to Valentines Day dinner!!!  Then Qld soon… I think I am spoilt HAhaha :D  But soon uni starts again and reality kicks back in.

Food Adventures!

Posted on 22-12-2013 | Tags: , , ,

So I cbs another camping post for now.. I guess I’ll talk about the food I’ve had recently! No watermarks, cause I’m lazy and forgot to put one on LOL.

Polish Food with my Aunty, Uncle and Brother for his birthday! I’ve never had it before, so it was really interesting and delicious hehe. Ever since I watched Simon and Martina from EYK go to Poland, I’ve wanted to try Pierogi so bad. But my expectations of it were perhaps too high. They were nice, but not amazing. I loved all the potato dishes and the beef roll thingies though!

My fave dish overall was the potato pancakes- S…something. They were sooo good. But potato dishes all tend to look pretty plain so no pics.

The potato cakes were so weird, in a good way. It was sort of like glutinous rice, but potato version. Then there’s beef inside (since we chose beef haha). Really nice! I thought it was just like, mashed potato but it was a unique texture and delicious.

Not pictured- Polish Dumplings (Pierogi), Polish Potato Cakes and potato pancakes. Cannot remember the real names for most of these.

Bigos – Official Dish of Poland

20131223-011507.jpg

The dessert- Polish Jam Donuts, were really tasty. They were similar to Krispy Kremes but somewhat lighter and less sweet- the jam was a tiny bit sour which made it really nice~
There was also poppyseed cake, which wasn’t that good… I’m not a fan of poppyseeds.

Anyway it was a real culinary treat for me on Saturday because not only did I have Polish food, but I even had French for dinner, for Bryan and my monthversary. He actually pointed out to me at dinner that it was the first time we have had a dinner date! Before he got his license, it was very difficult for us to have dinner together because he’d have to go home via public transport which I thought would be unsafe since he would be alone and the area he lives can be somewhat dangerous. Anyway, he has eaten dinner with me at my house, at his house and with our friends before but this is the first “dinner date” at a restaurant. I didn’t realise at all actually.

It was tasty, as expected. I love french onion soup. Perhaps we should have gotten escargot but I’ve had it before and I wasn’t too much in the mood for it, and neither was he. So we ended up having the soup, mains– eye fillet steaks with bacon and wine sauce, and for me “Canard aux Noix”: a duck dish with orange sauce and almond crisp.

Must admit, I liked his dish a lot more than my own. Last time I went to a French restaurant and had Duck L’Orange, it was delicious. But this dish was a bit weird… It was okay. I liked his steak a lot. So nicely cooked and tender and yummy.

20131223-013317.jpg

Dessert though. French desserts are the BEST. Definitely the highlight of the meal– we got two, one Crepe Suzette because I wanted to show Bryan something quintessentially French, and a Cerise…something. It was super good. Both were good, but Bryan enjoyed the Crepes more due to the alcohol. I liked the Cerise thing cause I have a sweet tooth.

The Crepe Suzette is a normal crepe, pretty much. Doused in alcohol and set alight.

20131223-013627.jpg

The Cherry thing (Cerises…something) was a goblet with iduno… Some pudding with cherries that have been drowned in alcohol with ice cream and chocolate fudge. So gooooooood. Drools. The cherries tasted amazing. I expected sour but they were so sweet.

20131223-013820.jpg

The picture doesn’t do it enough justice… It was so gooood. Anyway, that’s all for now, soz for the photo edit inconsistency, I took some with pudding cam and some with normal iPhone cam.

City Date

Posted on 07-12-2013 | Tags: , , , ,

Today Bryan and I went to the city to eat some Korean food at CJ Lunch Bar. The place is quite small and crowded so the atmosphere isn’t the best, but the food is definitely well worth it!

We got a huge chicken bulgogi with cheese, sizzling on the plate, side dishes and 2 cans of drink for about 8 dollars per person. The cans of drink are only a dollar and I think the bulgogi dish was 14. They also have a lot of other well priced dishes that looked really nice as well, but I think their signature dish is the chicken cheese bulgogi.

Anyway after that we wandered around the city, just exploring places we haven’t been before. We ate a Harajuku crepe, strawberry #1. Eventually we ended up in QV where we spent a considerable amount of time listening to free live music in this random “Dream” tent in the middle of QV which was a pleasant surprise. The music was good, the singer had a lovely voice and the atmosphere of the tent was super nice. They decorated it really prettily:

After the last performance, we decided to try some cupcakes at a nearby cupcake shop called The Cupcake Family. We bought the Green Tea one, in full size and a Red Velvet. The Green tea one was delicious! The cream was had a nice strong green tea flavor, and a cute piece of mochi at the top. But I only got a pic of the red velvet.

After everything I ended up having an early Christmas dinner with Bryan’s family at a Shanghai restaurant since they will be going to Japan over Christmas. The food there was really nice although the service was bad.

Anyway that’s all for now, I’m so tired~

20th Birthday

Posted on 22-10-2013

It was my birthday last week.

On Sunday I planned a small dinner with the Korean friends at Gami Chicken.  It was tasty, and those girls are so sweet even though I haven’t known them for very long.  They gave me a mirror sticker (which I placed on my phone case), a perfume and a pair of cute white flats.  Thanks guys!

Uni in the morning, then Bryan took me out to eat at a Korean restaurant, since he just got his P’s!  Yay, I am so proud of him. :D  We also drove to Chaddy to look for some new shoes for me, but I didn’t end up getting any because I have a very specific set of conditions for them: black, genuine leather, comfortable inside, ideally with a platform at the front but it can’t be a platform all the way around.  I envision a pair of perfect classic black pumps that I can wear even casually.  LOL.  This is why I haven’t bought them yet.

Anyway, lastly he drove us to my house and we had a small dinner with my family.  Bryan’s parents gave me a Revlon gift pack, which was very nice of them.

On the next weekend, I had a small party at my house.  I feel really bad that I couldn’t invite everyone I wanted to, but my house is tiny and I already felt horrible about needing my mum to help me with the cooking and stuff.  If I had a mansion I’d invite everyone, but I don’t and money is quite a problem for me at the moment actually… Hope everyone can understand.

I wore a hi-lo/asymmetrical dress I got from Korea, with a pretty map pattern on the front.  I was super proud of my makeup (which I did too early) but then by the time the party started my skin had an allergic reaction and went bumpy and imperfect I crai every time.  I even cut my fringe straight again, 5 minutes before the guests began to arrive ’cause had to cover up the allergyyy. Oh well here’s a picture from when it was good but my lipstick came off:

IMG_2510
I recorded it but I’ll have to edit it and see whether it’s any good.

We had a bbq outside; actually we precooked the meat during the day to give it a smoky flavour.  As usual my mum went overboard with all the food- but I’m glad I get to eat yummy leftovers for the next few days.  We played a charades kind of game which was actually really fun.  Stolen from Running Man or something (AND they did it on Shinhwa Broadcast too, so double points)- it’s like Chinese whispers but you act it out.  I’m really bad at it… srsly.. I think I ruined most of the acting LMAO I accidentally did something that looked dodgy as as well but I don’t know if anyone realised it looked like that, or do I just have a filthy mind HAhaha.  BUT I did guess one of them correctly, yay.

When it was time for cake, my mum bought these sparkler candles in the shape of a “20” which was pretty cool.  I’m really grateful for everything she did for me even though the hours before dinner were stressful as heck.

Then it was present time.  Bryan’s parents gave me yet another gift- a Cherry Blossom Body Shop pack.  Srsly wuut I am so spoiled by them, they’re so niceeee.  Ide know how they knew cherry blossom was my favourite flavour but I guess most people like that flavour anyway haha.  Calene made me a cute toy keyring thing and wrote me a letter like we did back in the dayz in high school.  I still find it so funny that we became bffls after I even mentioned something of the sort in a letter when we used to exchange them.  Love you Caleneee ^__^

Finally, I got trolled by Bryan.  I knew he had planned a collaborative present with my other friends, but he tricked me into thinking they got me a “custom” board game for my birthday or something.  Nekminut it’s an ipad mini in a Taboo box LOL.  Even my mum said I was gullible.  Hahahah.  Thanks so much guys, I love it!

After presents Bryan showed us this video he prepared, with my friends saying happy birthday to me and stuff.  I was really touched :’)  Dat effort he put in to even get everyone to do it, and then he even did Shinhwa‘s Venus dance at the end for me ^_________^  I teared up LOL stupid tear ducts never do what I want.  Pua even recorded his part like 5 times to get it right wat a qt HAHAha I luv you guys all so much.

After everything ended, Calene slept over and we talked and watched random stuff, incl. John Tucker Must Die which was such a LAME movie, but it was okay.  Typical chick flick and no depth but whatever.  Then WGM in the morning, yay.

I had a really great birthday, thanks everyone :3
